We are descendants of immigrant grandparents who came from from Hamburg, Germany in 1910 and 1911.  They left Germany at a time of great turmoil, 4 years  before WWI.

Grandpa Franz Theodor Froese immigrated to America in 1910, sailed from Hamburg, Germany on the S.S. President Lincoln on the 27th of August 1910 and arriving at Port New York New York on the 8th of September 1910.  He was 38 years old.  He came from Gelsenkirchen, Germany and was a miner.  He was sponsored by his brother Otto Froese of Belleville IL.  He had a scar on his forehead, he was 5'5" and had gray eyes and ruddy complexion.  His destination was Belleville IL.

 

Grandma Rosine Froese immigrated to America in 1911.  She sailed from Antwerp on S.S. Montfort and arrived at Port of Quebec on the 9th of May 1911.  She was 29 years old.  She brought 6 children with her: Herman (14), Marie (11 ), Lena (10), Ernst (8), Martha (4) and Karl (1-1/2).  She arrived with $25.
